Hurricane Danny Weakens To Cat. 2

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Hurricane Danny has weakened into a Category 2 hurricane and is expected to continue weaking.
At 11 p.m., the center of the first hurricane of the 2015 season was located about 810 miles east of the Leeward Islands. Maximum sustained winds have lowered to 110 mph with higher gusts. Danny is about to encounter a less conducive environment, and weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours. Danny is expected to become a tropical storm on Sunday.
A NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft investigated Danny late this afternoon.
Danny is moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph. This general motion is expected to continue through tonight. A turn toward the west is forecast by Saturday night.
Danny is a major hurricane. Its force winds extend outward up to 15 miles from the center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 60 miles.
Currently there are no watches or warning posted for this storm.
Since we've got a while to watch this one, it's a great reminder that we are entering what is historically the most active time of hurricane season between August 15th to October 15th.
