TITUSVILLE (CBSMiami/AP) — Officials searching for a missing Cessna instead found human remains from the Indian River in Central Florida.

The small plane went missing Wednesday during bad weather while on approach to Titusville's Space Coast Regional Airport.

Florida Today reports authorities haven't confirmed whether the remains are related to the crash.

The pilot was believed to be the only person on board the twin-engine plane, which left Orlando Executive Airport earlier Wednesday. Officials say contact with the plane was lost at 4:26 p.m.

Cpl. Dave Jacobs of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office says officials convened early Thursday to come up with a search plan. He says the search area is fairly wide.

Wednesday night search units spotted some debris in the NASA Causeway.

No further details were immediately available.
