Homestead Hospital Workers Practice For Possible Health Scare

HOMESTEAD (CBSMiami) -- Homestead Hospital workers are putting their skills to the test Friday, especially when it comes to preparation for emergency situations such as Ebola.

Workers will be part of a drill meant to prepare them to handle such a situation.

All this just one day after a patient came in after they thought they met the criteria to be tested for the Ebola virus.

The hospital released a statement Friday saying, "Yesterday afternoon, a patient who believed they may meet the criteria for additional testing for the Ebola virus visited Homestead Hospital seeking treatment. The patient was evaluated according to CDC guidelines and determined not to be at risk for Ebola."

The incident prompted the hospital to put the ER on bypass at the time which means they did not accept any ambulances though they did accept walk-in patients.
