HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) - Hollywood Police arrested two people Friday morning after a traffic stop turned into a full-blown drug operation investigation.

According to detectives, Colleen Kirk and Mitchell Haine were pulled over during a routine traffic stop at West Dixie Highway and Cleveland Street. A search of the vehicle turned up household chemicals that agents said are used to cook crystal meth.

But they found more than the making of a meth lab.

"We found heroin, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a weapon in the car," said Officer Anthony Gomez.

Kirk, 44, and Haine, 32, were arrested.

The investigation led DEA agents to a home on Garfield Street and 25th Avenue. Hazardous materials crews secured the area and evacuated several homes.

"Unbelievable," said neighbor Ron Geis. "I can't believe so close to home, but that's today's society."

DEA agents searched the house they suspected could be a meth lab, but police say they found nothing significant.
