MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A record-setting number of Americans are expected to travel during the year-end holidays this year - more than 103 million to be exact.

That's the most on record, according to AAA. It's about 1.5 million more people traveling than last year from Friday, December 23rd to Monday, January 2nd.

"'Tis the season for holiday travel, and this year more Americans will travel to celebrate the holidays and ring in the New Year than ever before," said AAA President and CEO Marshall Doney.

The jump in travelers is due to a number of factors including an increase in consumer spending and low gas prices.

As for how they will get there, more travelers are expected to drive this holiday season - about 93.6 million. That's a slight rise of 1.5 percent over last year.

Warm-weather spots are topping the holiday destinations list with the exception of New York City. Las Vegas, Nevada and Orlando, Florida are at the top of the list, followed by New York, New York and San Diego, California.
