Herald: Raquel Regalado Will Run For Miami-Dade Mayor

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Raquel Regalado, daughter of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, is planning on running for Miami-Dade mayor in 2016.

Regalado, a current school board member, revealed her plans Sunday, according to CBS4's news partner the Miami Herald.

Regalado, 40, told the paper that the county needs a "different direction" than the one offered by Mayor Carlos Gimenez.

"I think the decisions being made right now are having such a dramatic impact on our lives," Regalado said of Gimenez, according to the Herald.

Regalado said she plans to file formal candidacy papers Monday, according to the paper, along with a series of campaign videos.
