MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez will find out tonight if he will remain in power.

On Election Day, Gimenez and his challenger school board member Raquel Regalado cast their ballot in the race to be the next mayor of Miami-Dade County.

Gimenez will watch the results come in at a watch party at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport after the polls close.

As for Regalado,  she voted Tuesday morning at her neighborhood precinct and later visited voters at the polls throughout Miami-Dade County.

Regalado will end off her day with friends, supporters, and volunteers at Our Lady of Lebanon in Miami.

Tuesday ends a contentious race between the two wrought with allegations of "daddy issues" and a lawsuit attempting to boot Mayor Gimenez from the ballot.
