Hallandale Beach Fire Chief On Leave Amid Investigation

HALLANDALE BEACH (CBSMiami) -- The fire chief of the city of Hallandale Beach has been placed on administrative leave.

Chief Daniel Sullivan is accused of discussing an active investigation related to gender discrimination.

According to a memo, "The Fire Chief has been placed on administrative leave due to allegations that he has been discussing an ongoing confidential investigation into allegations of discrimination on basis of gender in the Fire Department."

Discussing any an ongoing confidential investigation is a violation of city policy.

Sullivan is the longest serving fire chief in Broward County.

Deputy Chief Gregg Pagliarulo was next in line to assume the role of interim chief but according to the memo, "it would be inappropriate for Chief Pagliarulo to be assigned the interim role due to his being mentioned in the investigation."

Deputy Chief Pagliarulo will continue serving in his position.

Division Chief Mark Ellis is now the new interim chief.
