MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- More than half a million travelers are expected to pass through Miami International Airport (MIA) this Memorial Day weekend, airport officials said Thursday.

The weekend spanning from Friday, May 27th to Monday, May 30th will be a busy one but increased staffing at the airport may mean less of a headache for travelers.

MIA officials say more staff may mean less wait time - something they say is among the lowest of all U.S. hub airports.

Despite that, traveler traffic is up 3 percent at MIA and is expected to grow through the summer.

Those travelling on a domestic flight are urged to get to the airport two hours in advance while those traveling abroad should arrive three hours in ahead.
