MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Police confirmed Wednesday night to CBS4 News that a man shot in the chest in an apparent domestic situation was able to pin the shooter the ground, despite his wound, until police arrived.

The scene unfolded in the 1400 block of SW 23 Street around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police, the shooter went to the home of his ex-girlfriend to speak with her.

The woman showed up with a male friend. That's when the ex-boyfriend got a gun and shot the male friend once in the chest.

A neighbor came outside after hearing the gun shots and saw a man literally sitting on another man.

"There was a man on top of another man and the lady with the gun in her hand and her father screaming," said Ivonne.

Police detained the shooter as paramedics rushed the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

We're told he is in stable condition.

Police are interviewing the woman.
