Guests Back On The Ground After SeaWorld Ride Malfunction

MIAMI (CBSMiami)  --  Passengers who were trapped on a SeaWorld ride for hours finally made it back down on Monday afternoon.

For more than two hours, rescue crews worked to try to get guests out of the Sky Tower ride at SeaWorld Orlando.

According to CBS News, the platform of the ride was eventually lowered to the ground and passengers were able to get off.

At least 15 firefighters worked with SeaWorld staff to get the passengers down, according to  Orange County Fire Rescue officials.

At one point, crews lifted one of the firefighters to the ride to check if anyone on board was hurt. No one was injured.

Guests in the park were snapping pictures of the incident and posting it on to social media as those inside the ride waited to be taken down.

Passengers on the ride also took to social media to show what was going on.

It is  still unclear what caused the ride to get stuck.

During efforts to get the passengers off the ride, just before 3 p.m., SeaWorld issued a statement saying "We are working closely with Orange County Fire Rescue to quickly and safely remove all guests from the ride. We are in constant communication with the guests and team members on the ride, and all passengers are safe. The safety of our guests and team members is SeaWorld's top priority."
