Police: Group Walked Into Ray Allen's Home

MIAMI (CBSMiami)--  Coral Gables Police said a  group of young adults crashed the home of NBA free-agent and Miami Heat hero Ray Allen.

Coral Gables Police said seven young adults went into the home located at 5 Tahiti Beach Island Road on Thursday around 2:30 a.m.

Officers arrived at the home after getting a call about people inside.

Authorities spoke with Shannon Walker Allen who said she was asleep in her bedroom with her children when she heard what appeared to be people.

"She stated that she heard people in her house, didn't know how many. She saw flashes of light and she screamed out,'What are you doing in my home?' they immediately fled the home," said Coral Gables Police Officer Kelly Denham.

According to police those intruders were six males and a female ages 18 and 19 years old who had been at a party next door to the Allen's.

"They all thought Ray Allen had moved. They wanted to go see a Miami Heat player home, inside his house, and when they found an unlocked door, walked in and looked around to see what was going on," said Denham.

When police arrived they were told by the neighbors the kids had left and were at another home in coral gables.

"We set our officers over there. The mother met us outside and said my son came home and said, 'Oh my gosh. I really messed up,'" said Denham.

All seven teens who officials said are cooperating were taken to the police department.

"Our detectives interviewed them individually. We started out as an occupied burglary but as we started going through the interview there was no forced entry. No items were taken from the home.  It went from being an occupied burglary and confirming with the State Attorney's Office, it moved to trespassing," said Denham.

Ray Allen was not home when the people walked in but is back with his family.

As for the teens, police said they have no priors and nothing was taken from the home so they have been charges with trespassing which is a misdemeanor charge.

If the Allens wish they could file charges directly with the State Attorney's Office.
