Gottlieb: Justise Winslow is Not a Steal

The overwhelming majority of NBA talent evaluators publicly applauded the Miami Heat's selection of Justise Winslow at No. 10 overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, calling it "a steal."

But one basketball analyst thinks all that chatter is "nonsense."

"I don't think he dropped to ten," CBS Sports' Doug Gottlieb said on the Joe Rose Show. "I think you have people who aren't evaluators who say 'oh they got a steal.' Everybody brought him in, watched him, and thought other players were better and I would generally agree. It doesn't mean he's not a good player. I think he has a chance to be a terrific talent in the NBA but any of this nonsense about them getting a steal at 10 is like oh okay.

"I think the big question is how do they use him? He didn't play well offensively until he played the power forward at Duke. He's only 6-foot-4 and half in bare feet... The question becomes do you make him into a guard?

Gottlieb says he needs to work on his footwork and jump shot but he's a good competitor, "super smart" and "fits in with the winning culture of the Heat."
