Goran Dragic Talks Dragon Nickname, Miami Life on Joe Rose Show

Goran Dragic may not possess any physical attributes likening him to his dragon nickname, but there's some coincidental personal significance behind the moniker he goes by today.

"That nickname was given to me by Steve Nash when I came to the league and nobody could say my last name, Dragic," Goran Dragic said on the Joe Rose Show a day after signing a new deal with the Heat. "Everybody was saying Dragika -- nobody could say it. So he said 'from now on you're the dragon. It's much easier.' The funny thing is he didn't know the capital city of Slovenia is Ljubljana and the logo is the dragon. I kind of like that nickname and I'll stick with that."

What's the dragon like about the city of Miami so far?

"It's very nice to have [the] ocean," Dragic said. "Miami is such a nice city. I like it because it's a lot of different cultures... I never go fishing in my life but I want to try that. It's nice because you can try different things."
