Hurricane Gonzalo Turns Northward

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Hurricane Gonzalo which has been downgraded back to a Category 3 Hurricane turned northward and is aiming at Bermuda.

At 11 p.m. the center of the storm was located about 580 miles south-southwest of Bermuda. It is moving to the northwest at 9 mph with maximum sustained winds of 120 mph.

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Bermuda, upgraded from a Hurricane Watch.

Gonzalo is forecast to increase in forward speed by late Thursday. Gonzalo is forecast to move near Bermuda on Friday.

Gonzalo is expected to produce total rain accumulations of three to six inches over Bermuda.
