Hurricane Gonzalo Moving Faster Towards Bermuda

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Hurricane Gonzalo is moving faster to the North-northeast toward Bermuda.

At 11 p.m. the center of the storm was located about 340 miles south-southwest of Bermuda. It is moving to the north-northeast at 14 mph with maximum sustained winds of 140 mph.

A Hurricane Warning continues to be in effect for Bermuda.

Gonzalo is expected to continue its north-northeastward motion with an increase in forward speed through Saturday.

The eye of Gonzalo will be near Bermuda Friday afternoon and Friday night.

A dangerous and life-threatening storm surge is expected to produce significant coastal flooding in Bermuda.  The surge will be accompanied by large and destructive waves.
