Gonzalo Moves Toward Newfoundland

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Hurricane Gonzalo moved away from Bermuda Saturday and will brush by Newfoundland Saturday night as a larger storm system.

As of the 11 p.m. advisory, the National Hurricane Center said Gonzalo is about 360 miles southwest of Cape Race Newfoundland with maximum sustained winds at 90 mph.

The storm is moving quickly at 39 mph.

A tropical storm watch is in effect for Arnolds Cove to Chapels Cove in Newfoundland.

Some weakening of the storm is expected in the next 48 hours.

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 70 miles from the center of the storm and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 205 miles.
