Get A Taste Of The New Asian Inspired Tsukuro

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Tsukuro is Fort Lauderdale Beach's newest Asian-inspired dining destination.

The 8000 square foot space features eye-opening ocean treasures from the raw bar, all the sushi and sashimi you can eat, plus a creative mix of large and small plates. Also, sharing dishes is not only recommended—it's encouraged.

"Plates come out from kitchen and sushi bar as they are finished so everything is arriving to the table fresh--so it's a lot of trying this and that," said Ari Glassman, Marketing Director at Tsukuro.

Tsukuro translates to the phrase "where the moon arrives over the water," a nod to the oceanfront setting where diners can choose to eat outside or in. The contemporary yet comfortable and inviting restaurant seats 200 people.

"You can come and they always say the first taste is with your eyes not with food. And the space is wow, it just envelopes you feel warm," Glassman said.

Sushi Chef Tim, along with CBS4's Lisa Petrillo, is making Tsukuro's signature Riceless Roll. First they start with daikon, a white radish, and then the fresh tuna and salmon are added and the roll is then finished with avocado. It's a rollup and sliced into lollipop looking pieces.

"They are good. Really good!" said Petrillo.

The riceless roll kicks off the official tasting session.

"This is our Mongolian beef and Brussels sprouts," said Chef, while presenting Petrillo with her first plate of Mongolian Beef and Brussels sprouts. The dish is a large plate that is priced at $35 dollars but can be shared by four people.

"Sweet, tender and delicious," Petrillo said, "It has a wonderful flavor." The Brussels sprouts, Petrillo noted, were cooked to perfection.

Chef also brought out his sustainable Mushroom Dumplings with a touch of Tofu inside.

"That's a wonderful side dish or appetizer," said Petrillo.

The Sushi Roll Sampler's presentation is so pretty, it could be a centerpiece. This plate has salmon with mango, tuna with caviar, king crab and an eel roll.

"The caviar blends, it's so tender and soft it dissolves in your mouth," said Petrillo.

Want to know Chef Tims favorite? He said it's the King Crab roll.

"The King Crab Roll has a real sweetness to it. It doesn't need soy sauce. There's a sweetness to it, it doesn't need anything."

Tsukuro, in Fort Lauderdale, is kind-of like a culinary trip to Asia—without the lengthy flight, of course.

Tsukuro is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. For more information, visit www.tsukurofl.com.
