Garbage Truck Hits FPL Pole In Lauderhill

LAUDERHILL (CBSmiami) – A garbage truck hit a Florida Power and Light pole on Saturday, leaving thousands of Lauderhill residents without power.

According to the Lauderhill Fire Department, the truck knocked out 150 yards of powerlines near the 1700 block of NW 46th Ave.

Lauderhill Fire said the driver was stuck inside truck for about 45 minutes because wires were on top of vehicle. After rescue workers cleared the wires, the driver safely exited the truck.

Another vehicle was damaged, but it was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

No injuries were reported.

As of right now 2,000 customers are without power. Crews said it will take about eight hours for power to come back.
