Gallant: Panthers to Target 'Best Player Available'

The Florida Panthers are hosting the 2015 NHL Draft as the first round gets underway tonight in Sunrise. Possessing the No. 11 overall pick, which way are they leaning?

"The way the game is you go out and try to get the best player available," Gerard Gallant said on the Joe Rose Show this morning. "We've got a lot of young players playing defense but look up front also, you've got Barkov, Huberdeau and all those young kids up there so we're gonna take the best player available. We're gonna score. I mean it's tough to score in the National Hockey League but as you've seen last year, I think the second half of the season we scored more goals. I think our young players got more involved in the scoring and it's going to carry over into this season so we'll take a real good player and we'll work with whatever we get."

You can listen to WQAM's NHL Draft Show with Alex Donno, Bill Lindsay and Randy Moller live at the BB&T Center tonight beginning at 7:00 p.m.
