MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Fundraising efforts are underway for a proposed "Cuban Exile History Museum."

Organizers of the project, which will cost an estimated $125 million, say their plans call for it to be built just north of PortMiami.

"The museum will chronicle the events that led to the Cuban Exoduses and illustrate the contributions made by those who left their homeland for the Promise Land," according to a statement.

The goal is to have the museum open in four years.

The Miami-Dade commission, which has already endorsed giving county bayfront land for the museum, still needs to approve the final plan.
