U.S Marshals say Derrick Markell Robinson, 26, was wanted for attempted homicide and was considered armed and dangerous.

A massive search effort began around 10:00 p.m. Sunday, including the SWAT team, Miami Beach Police, Miami Police, and U.S Marshals. They blocked off a perimeter all around Alton Road and Dade Boulevard.

It all started when a Miami Beach police officer recognized the Virginia license plate on Robinson's car matching a "be on the lookout" notice from the US Marshals Office.

The officer attempted to pull him over, but Robinson took off.

According to the arrest affidavit, he went double the speed limit, ran multiple red lights, drove on the wrong side of the road and eventually crashed into a supermarket on Dade Boulevard. Then he ran away.

Officers eventually found him on Alton Road and caught him with the help of a K9 officer.

He faces multiple charges including fleeing from officers, burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of drugs.

Robinson is a four time convicted felon.

His last charge before this most recent incident was for assaulting a law enforcement officer.
