TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBSMiami/AP) — The head of Florida State University is getting a significant boost to his paycheck, about $90,000 worth.

FSU trustees on Friday unanimously voted to boost Florida State University President John Thrasher's annual salary from $430,000 to $473,000. Trustees also agreed to give the one-time bonus.

Thrasher was eligible for a performance bonus up to $100,000.

Trustees praised Thrasher for his ability to raise money for the school. They also lauded him for boosting faculty salaries and his response to a November 2014 shooting on FSU's campus.

Former FSU President Eric Barron had a base salary of nearly $407,000, but over a three year period he earned bonuses worth another $556,000. Barron stepped down in 2014 to take the top job at Penn State University.

Thrasher, a former state senator, also has been given a car and a house.
