MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Florida Power and Light wants customers to pay more than $200 million to clean up groundwater contamination from its Turkey Point nuclear plant.
State officials heard the issue Wednesday.
FPL says it needs the money to clean up cooling canals at the plant in South Miami-Dade.
But critics say FPL should have known it was causing a growing underwater contamination plume that was spreading westward toward drinking water wells.
