Fort Lauderdale police pursuit of "felony vehicle" ends in crash, suspects in custody

Kidnapping, stolen vehicle under investigation in Fort Lauderdale

MIAMI - Four suspects have been taken into custody after leading Fort Lauderdale police on a pursuit on Thursday afternoon.

Fort Lauderdale police said they located a "felony vehicle" just before 3:30 p.m. and that is when a pursuit ensued.

"The felony vehicle is related to a stolen vehicle investigation (Plantation Police Department) and a kidnapping investigation (City of Miami Police Department)," police said.

The pursuit ended in a neighborhood in the area of SW 3rd Street and SW 27th Terrace, with at least one suspect being led in handcuffs into an ambulance.

Police said four suspects bailed out of the vehicle after it crashed into another vehicle, but then were quickly taken into custody.

Authorities said, "All four suspects were successfully located without further incident... and were taken to Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries."

Images from Chopper 4 showed a heavily damaged dark-colored vehicle on its side in front of a house and a white Camry that had suffered damage to its front after crashing into a parked van.

Another person was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment. That person, according to police, had been in the vehicle that was crashed into by the vehicle in pursuit.
