70-year-old man killed in Fort Lauderdale hit-and-run, police say

An investigation is underway in Fort Lauderdale after police said a 70-year-old city man was hit and killed by a truck on Monday night.

According to information provided by Fort Lauderdale police, officers responded to reports that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the 400 block of West Sunrise Boulevard around 8 p.m. Monday night, and that vehicle had fled the scene.

When officers arrived at the scene, they said they found a man who had been hit by a vehicle.

That man, police said, was identified as 70-year-old Johnnie Lee Davis, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said that preliminary information showed that the suspect vehicle was a white in color pickup truck with an unknown make and model.

Police said that investigators are seeking information from the public regarding the deadly incident.
