MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A former Miami-Dade County police detective was sentenced to three years in prison for his role in a major marijuana trafficking organization.

Forty six-year old Roderick Silva, who pleaded guilty on Tuesday, was the 21st person sent to prison after the federal takedown of the organization.

Under a plea agreement, Silva admitted tipping off members of the Santiesteban gang about impending police raids, how to avoid police and locations of rival gang marijuana grow houses in exchange for cash.
