Tuesday, June 28th, will mark the 47th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

They were a series of protests by members of the gay community against a police raid that took place at a popular gay bar in New York City's Greenwich Village. The Stonewall Riots are widely considered as the single most important event leading to the gay liberation movement and the modern fight for LGBTQ rights in this country.

The city of Wilton Manors signature event is its Stonewall Festival, expected this year to draw as many as 30-thousand people.

We focus on the historical significance of the festival, and how recent controversies in places like North Carolina are raising questions about equal rights.
