Research shows that 60 percent of all fourth graders in this country are not reading at grade level. That puts them at risk to fall behind in school and become discouraged. And these kids are four times more likely to drop out of high school. The United Way of Miami-Dade's ReadingPals program helps children improve their literacy skills, starting when kids are in preschool.
