Flying Glass Tabletop Kills Miami Beach Maintenance Worker

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Miami Beach Police said a maintenance worker was killed after bad weather caused a glass tabletop to detach and hit the man.

Authorities said the man was working near the Flamingo Apartments' parking garage at 1560 Bay Road.  He was reportedly working on electrical fence because the wind damaged it.

While he was working, a lifted a glass tabletop from ninth floor unhinged, flew and struck him at around 7:45 p.m.

The man was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m.
