FLPD Searching For Overnight Hit & Run Driver

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) -- Authorities are investigating an overnight hit and run in Fort Lauderdale.

Fort Lauderdale Police said just after 1 a.m., James Ortibez was riding his bike near the 900 block of Northwest 13th Street when a car traveling in the same direction struck him.

The left front bumper of the car made contact with the bicyclist causing him to be ejected off the bicycle.

The driver continued on the roadway and did not stop to help Ortibez who was trauma alerted to Broward Health Medical Center.  He is listed in critical condition.

Police said they are looking for a 2009 - 2012 model 4 door gold Volkswagen CC.
