Florio: Adam Schefter Made the Wrong Decision
Many think Adam Schefter violated the ethics of journalism in posting Jason Pierre-Paul's medical chart, revealing his finger was amputated at a Miami hospital after a fireworks incident over July 4 weekend.
"I don't think it was the right decision to post that medical record," Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio said on the Joe Rose Show. "What do you gain if you're Adam Schefter form posting that medical record. Does he not realize that nobody was going to doubt him? Does he not realize that if anyone did doubt him he would ultimately be vindicated because it's not like this is an unprovable, internal condition.
"Jason Pierre-Paul is going show up somewhere without his right index finger sooner rather than later. I think when you do a risk-reward analysis on something like that where you know it's a sensitive piece of information I don't know how you come to the conclusion that it makes sense to put it out there. Unless ego took over as well, where he just wants to show the world 'I'm capable of getting these documents.'"
