Florida's Ukrainians Pray For Peace In Their Homeland

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — While many Christians prayed for forgiveness and rejuvenation during Easter Sunday services, Ukrainian Americans living in South Florida prayed for the people in their homeland.

At the Saint Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Cooper City, churchgoers told CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald that they hope and pray for peace.

A priest at the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Miami said his congregation has prayed constantly that God will protect Ukraine and restore freedom to its people.

Approximately 13,000 former Ukrainians call South Florida home.
