Fort Lauderdale man killed in Florida's Turnpike crash early Monday morning, FHP says
An investigation is underway in Broward County after officials said a Fort Lauderdale man was killed in a multivehicle crash on Florida's Turnpike early Monday morning.
According to Florida Highway Patrol. (FHP), a vehicle being driven by a 26-year-old woman from Pembroke Pines was headed northbound on the turnpike north of Sunrise Boulevard in Sunrise when it slammed into the back of another vehicle.
That vehicle, which was being driven by a 67-year-old For Lauderdale man, slammed into the guardrail and rolled over, coming to rest on its roof.
The driver was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, FHP said.
The other vehicle continued over the outside paved shoulder then went down a ditch.
FHP said a passenger in that vehicle, who was identified as a 31-year-old Fort Lauderdale man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was also taken to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment.
FHP said the investigation is ongoing.
