Florida Lottery Suspends Sales At Three Locations

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) — The Florida Lottery announced on Wednesday they suspended the sale of their products at three South Florida stores after officials say an investigation found evidence of possible fraud.

A Lottery news release announced the suspension of Akel Market, Georgia Market and Kwik Stop Food Store, all three of which are located in Pompano Beach.

A Lottery law enforcement agent and Broward County deputies removed all Lottery equipment, tickets and other property from each store. If criminal activity is proven, then the Florida Lottery will terminate the retailers' contracts. Criminal charges are also possible.

Following an investigation that began in August 2013, officials say they moved forward with the suspensions based on additional evidence gathered Wednesday. Officials didn't say what that new evidence was.
