WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBSMiami/AP) — A federal judge, before setting his bond, is seeking more information on the assets of a Florida doctor charged with corruption alongside New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez.

On Monday, U.S. Magistrate Judge James Hopkins said he needed to know about property and bank accounts held by Salomon Melgen, 61, in his native Dominican Republic, as well as the value of artwork he owns in the U.S.

Melgen has been behind bars for nearly eight weeks. He is accused of falsely diagnosing patients with eye conditions and performing unnecessary procedures to bilk Medicare out of as much as $105 million.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, as well as to those in the New Jersey case, in which he's accused of swapping donations and vacations for favors from Menendez.
