Florida Dept. Of Health Corrects Self-Isolation Mandate For International Travelers
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Florida Department of Health has updated the International Travel Advisory it issued earlier Monday.
The advisory first stated that anyone who has traveled internationally should self-isolate for 14 days following their date of return to the United States.
However, The state advisory was corrected stating self-isolation and social distancing is only mandatory if you've traveled to a country under a Level 3 Health warning.
According to the CDC, countries with a Level 3 travel health notice include:
- China
- Iran
- Italy
- South Korea
The state health department also recommends anyone who has traveled to a country under a Level 2 health warning to monitor your health and limit interactions with others for 14 days after returning to the U.S.
Japan remains at a Level 2 travel health notice as of Monday.
Hong Kong remains at Level 1.
The Florida Department of Health is also advising all individuals who traveled on a river cruise on the Nile River in Egypt in February 2020 to self-isolate for 14 days following their date of return. Several passengers in the U.S. recently developed symptoms and have been confirmed to be infected with COVID-19, including two positive cases in Florida.
There are eighteen Florida-related coronavirus cases, 12 of those cases diagnosed in the state.
