FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) -- Dozens of travelers were evacuated from a terminal at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.

On social media, travelers were posting pictures and videos showing dozens of people outside on the tarmac, some with their luggage in hand.

Airport officials said the evacuation was prompted due to the fire alarm going off in Terminal 1.

Just around 3 p.m., travelers were being ushered back into the airport. All the checkpoints have since been reopened.

Airport officials said they have not determined the cause for the alarm going off at this time.
