Fisher Complimentary Of Texas' Coaching Choice

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher let loose a sly smile when asked if he had followed the Texas coaching search during his final press session before the BCS championship game. The room erupted in laughter considering Fisher has routinely been asked about the opening since Mack Brown stepped down.

Fisher cocked his head and said with a laugh, "I tried not to, I was trying to coach."

A recent contract extension that could keep Fisher at Florida State through 2018 at about $4.1 million per year didn't end the speculation. The questions should end now that Louisville coach Charlie Strong has accepted the job.

Said Fisher: "I went against Charlie a lot of years in the SEC. Charlie's an excellent coach. A very good guy. Good recruiter. I think he'll do an excellent job."
