Firefighter To Be Suspended After Ambulance, Fire Truck Collision

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The Miami firefighter who was behind the wheel of an ambulance that crashed into a fire truck will be suspended.
According to Miami Fire Rescue spokesman Ignatius Carroll, firefighter Gustavo Alzata will be suspended for 96 hours for gross negligence.
The crash happened in August 2015 near Northwest 12th Avenue and 14th Street just a few blocks from Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Red-light cameras at the intersection captured the crash as it happened and shows the ambulance crashing into the side of the truck causing it to flip on its side.
Both vehicles were on their way to calls and had lights and sirens on.
The ambulance was transporting a grandmother and her two grandchildren to the hospital.
A total of 12 people were hurt in the collision including seven firefighters. Nobody was seriously hurt.
