MIAMI (CBSMiami) --Passengers and crew were evacuated from a Carnival Cruise Lines ship after a fire broke out Monday.

U.S. Coast Guard crews said the Carnival Liberty was docked in St. Thomas when the fire broke out around 11:30 a.m in the engine room.

While the fire was mostly extinguished, cruise line officials said, as of 2 p.m, they were still working to confirm the fire had been completely extinguished.

There were no injuries reported.

A marine safety crew was assessing the damage to determine if it was safe to let everyone back on board.

Carnival officials said the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

The cruise was on its second day of a seven-day Caribbean cruise that left San Juan, Puerto Rico on Sunday.
