MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- About 120 Miami Firefighters battled a blaze for hours on Wednesday at a Miami-Dade warehouse and finally declared it under control late in the evening.

While the fire has been declared under control, crews plan to stay throughout the night to make sure the fire doesn't ignite again.

The blaze broke out near Miami International Airport on Wednesday afternoon at a warehouse located at NW 70th Ave and 22nd Street.

"There were three employees that were working.  As soon as the fire occurred, they tried to put the fire out and unfortunately, they weren't able to so they immediately evacuated the premises," said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue firefighter Alexio Rodriguez Jr.

Authorities said a worker reported a forklift, located next to a pallet of lamp oil, caught on fire.

Just after 5 p.m., Miami Fire officials upgraded the blaze to a second alarm fire.

Fire rescue crews pulled all their personnel from the building around 5:20 p.m. and then tried to control the blaze by spraying foam.

"The flames are just deep inside where we can't reach them," said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Albert Carbonell.

They were able to control the fire just before 11:00 p.m.

Investigators are expected to start investigation Thursday morning to determine cause of the fire. The investigation is expected to take a couple of days to complete.
