Fire Breaks Out In Florida Everglades

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A fire broke out in the Florida Everglades Monday.

Chopper4 was over the fire, which is located about five miles west of US-27 and more than a mile north of I-75.

The Florida Forest Service reports that 10,000 acres have burned so far.

There is no word on what caused the fire.

Smoke from the fire is impacting western Broward. Light ash has fallen Coral Springs, Plantation, and Weston. People with respiratory issues should take care.

South Florida has been dealing with extremely dry and hot conditions over the past few days. There is a chance those conditions played a part.
