MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Friends and family of Jesus Meneses, the teen electrocuted inside an FPL substation, will pay their final respects at his funeral Friday evening.

The service was held Friday night at Maspons Funeral Home, 3500 SW 8th Street in Miami.

The Heat Group/The Miami Heat and the City of Miami joined forces to make arrangements in order to provide the finishing touches for Jesus Meneses' funeral and burial expenses.  Miami Police personnel hand-delivered the check from the Miami Heat to the Meneses' family.

Meneses died Monday, October 27th. He was playing basketball at Flagami's Kinloch Park with friends when his ball bounced over a seven-foot high metal fence that is protected by barbed wire surrounding a Florida Power & Light electrical power grid.

Jesus jumped the fence to get the ball and then jumped a second interior fence. It was inside this second fence where he touched a live electrical wire and died instantly.

Jesus was a popular student at Coral Gables Senior High and friends have been mourning his loss all week long.

His family set up a memorial fund for their son in order to raise funds for his funeral.

Standing before reporters Tuesday and speaking in Spanish, his mother and father said they were "destroyed" by the loss of their son. They asked for donations because they wanted to give him a proper Christian burial.
