Fatal Southwest Miami-Dade crash under investigation

A deadly crash in Southwest Miami-Dade has left at least two people dead and sent multiple others, including adults and children, to local hospitals, authorities said Friday night.

Crash happened near Zoo Miami

The collision occurred on Quail Roost Drive and Southwest 117th Avenue, near Zoo Miami, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

Officials confirmed that both adults and children were among those transported to hospitals and trauma centers following the wreck. However, they did not specify the exact number of people injured.

Video shows mangled vehicles

Video from the scene showed two severely damaged cars and at least two yellow tarps covering bodies. Authorities have not released the identities of the victims.

Florida Highway Patrol leads investigation

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office said deputies were contacted to assist but emphasized that the Florida Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.

Officials have not released further details about what caused the crash.
