Feds File Harassment Cases Against Two Florida Firms

MIAMI (AP) — The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed separate sexual harassment lawsuits against two Florida agriculture companies.

The cases were filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Miami against Windmill Farms Nursery in Zolfo Springs and Moreno Farms, which has facilities in Hendry County.

In both cases, the Commission alleges a supervisor groped a female employee and threatened to fire a worker after she rejected his advances or refused to sleep with him.

Windmill Farms' Damon Barnes said his company had not seen the lawsuit so could not comment on it. He said Windmill is an equal opportunity employer that provides employees a safe environment and does not condone harassment or discrimination. Several numbers listed for Moreno Farms were no longer in service.
