FDLE: Missing Coconut Creek Boy Found Safe

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A statewide search for a four-year-old from Coconut Creek is over.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has canceled its Missing Child Alert for Tanner Swears. The department said the boy was found safe.

The alert was issued after the boy's mother had an argument Saturday afternoon with her husband, 55-year-old Stephen Swears, who is Tanner's biological father. She told investigators that Swears pulled a gun on her and then took off with their child.

Coconut Creek police say early Sunday afternoon Swears gave the boy to a family friend who returned him to his mother.

Swears is still on the loose. Police believe he may be driving a silver 2013 Ford Mustang convertible. It's Florida tag number is AIQ Z45.

He's wanted on one count of aggravated assault (brandishing a firearm).

If you spot the vehicle, call Coconut Creek police at (954) 973-6700.
