FDLE Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting In North Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – An investigation is underway following a police-involved shooting in North Miami on Tuesday.

According to Miami-Dade Police, detectives responded to an apartment complex at 132nd St. and NE 7th Ave. shortly after 7 p.m. following up on an investigation of a shooting that occurred recently.

When detectives located that person they were looking for, that man reportedly opened fire.

"Once the officers arrived, they were confronted by the suspect who opened fire," said Miami-Dade Police Department Det. Marjorie Eloi. "They returned fire and they transported the subject to Aventura Hospital where his condition at the time in unknown."

According to police, the suspect is a Latin male, about 21 years of age.  Authorities are not releasing his identity at the moment.

Detectives with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are conducting an investigation into what happened.
