MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Officials with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) expanded a recall of sunflower seeds over contamination concerns.

Official says some products made by Planters and Sunrich Naturals are included in the recall.

Federal officials are worried the items may be contaminated with Listeria that has been found to cause serious and sometimes deadly infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.  A Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

More than two dozen states - including Florida - are under the recall.

The initial recall included sunflower seeds produced at SunOpta's facility between the dates of February 1, 2016 and February 19, 2016. The expanded recall now includes products produced from February 20, 2016 through April 21, 2016.

At last check, no illnesses had been linked to the recalled items.

The FDA urges those who have any of the recalled items to throw them out or return them to the store of purchase for a refund.
