PALM BEACH GARDENS (CBSMiami) -- A day after it was announced that the FBI would join the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office in the investigation of the officer-involved shooting death of 31-year-old Corey Jones, a team of PBSO and FBI investigators took several hours to search the area where the fatality occurred.

The October 18 incident has sparked a national outcry for justice after Jones was shot by Palm Beach Gardens Officer Nouman Raja, who was in an unmarked van and dressed in plain clothes when he pulled up to Jones' broken-down car on the side of an I-95 exit ramp. Raja was not carrying his badge to identify himself as a police officer.

Officer Raja fired his weapon six times when he noticed that Jones was armed with a handgun. Jones did not fire back.

In an effort to keep the investigation transparent, Palm Beach Sheriff Ric Bradshaw requested federal assistance. On Friday, he embraced the FBI's help with a statement released through Twitter.

A benefit concert is being held for Corey Jones Saturday night at the Bamboo Room at 25 South J Street in Lake Worth, including a performance by the band Jones played with, Future Prezidents. They're scheduled to go on at 10:15 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Corey Jones family.
